Surnames
The template uses the surname field to categorize biographies by family name. To specify multiple surnames (to account for married names or combined names), also specify a comma-delimited list of names surname1, surname2.
Completion
The completion field tracks biographies based on how much information they contain. It consists of a percentage number matching the table below.

|---|---|
| 0% (stub) | Little or nothing is known besides the name. |
| 25% (some basic) | Some of the most basic details are known (dates, parents, etc). |
| 50% (basic) | All or most basic details are known (dates, parents, children, etc). |
| 75% (intermediate) | Many details are known (dates, parents, children, locations, etc). |
| 100% (reasonably complete) | The biography provides a reasonably complete coverage of the subject's life (dates, parents, children, location, education, history, living conditions, etc). |
Updated on
The updated on field indicates the last date the article was fully updated to reflect files in their category and changes to their Ancestry profile. This is used to check articles that haven't been maintained in a while for new information.
