Jane (Jennie[1] Genet[2] Virginie[3]) Audette (Audet[3]) was born of Francis Audette and Clemence Bédard[4] in June 1864[5], circa 1867[2], or circa 1869[4] in Ontario[2][5]. She married Oliver Montroy on July 22nd 1886 at Williamstown & Glengarry, Ontario,[4][1] and mothered Josephine (1875)[2], Catherine (1882)[2], Jennette (1887)[1][2][5], Bella (1887[5] or 1889[2]), Joseph (1890)[6][5], May (1894)[5], Emma-Louise (1895[5] or 1896[3][7]), John A. (1899)[5], Peter (1899)[5], Alexander (1901)[6][5], Wilfred (1902)[6][5], Rederick (1905)[5], and Dennis[6] (1911–1935?) Montroy.
She was registered in the 1891 and 1911 Censuses of Canada as Canadian (Ontarian), of French origins, and Roman Catholic.[2][5] The 1891 Census noted she was illiterate and was neither deaf, dumb, blind, nor unsound of mind.[2] The 1911 Census noted she was unemployed, could read and write, and was French-English bilingual.[5]
She presumably lived with Oliver Montroy in Williamstown at least 1886–1922, where she married George in 1886[4] and mothered at least two children in 1887[1] and 1896[7]. She was registered in Alexandria in the 1911 Census of Canada[5], and witnessed her grandchild's marriage at nearby Lancaster, ON in 1922[8].
